Questions

Overview

What a question is and the rules that apply to all its endpoints.

A question is the public doubt a buyer asks on a listing, before the purchase. The seller answers, and the answer shows on the listing. It belongs to a Connection and, when the listing was imported, to a Listing (listingId).

How customer service works end to end: Serve buyers.

Rules

  • Only an unanswered question can be answered. Before that, the response is 409 question_not_answerable.
  • Answering and acting are jobs: the API returns 202 and you follow the id.
  • The author appears only as an external id, with no name.
  • Limits (such as the answer length) vary by marketplace. See Capabilities.

Webhook

question.received arrives when a new question comes in. It carries ids only (questionId, listingId, status…), never the text. Read the text with Get question. See Receiving webhooks.
